When Hurricane Harvey took over Houston earlier this month, no one expected the devastation to be quite as tragic as it was. The storm killed at least 30 people, left tens of thousands in shelters, and dumped almost 50 inches of rain on the city, according to NBC News. It’s been a tough week for countless families in Houston, in Texas, in the United States.
But the beautiful thing about tragedies like this is that, when under pressure, many people do rise to the occasion, dropping everything to help out those in need.
Despite the terrifying and tragic circumstances that took over Houston this week, there were also countless touching moments. Sharing them doesn’t make the horrors over the last few days any better, of course—but it can help lighten the load and remind you that, no matter what, we’ll get through it.
Here are a few of the best moments shared with the internet:
This Man Who Dressed Up As Spiderman To Cheer Kids Up
Los Angeles Times journalist Molly Hennessy-Fiske shared a touching video on Twitter of a man who dressed up as Spiderman to cheer up evacuated children in Texas:

The Cab Driver Who Made Friends With An Injured Hawk
When a hawk sought refuge pre-storm in his cab in Houston, taxi driver William Bruso decided to let “Harvey the Hurricane Hawk” stay.
When Harvey wouldn’t leave at the end of the day, Bruso took him home for the night and gave him a safe space to hang out until the Texas Wildlife Rehab Coalition came to pick him up the next morning.

No matter what, there are always people who are looking to help. And in the hard times, that matters more than ever.
