When Hurricane Harvey took over Houston earlier this month, no one expected the devastation to be quite as tragic as it was. The storm killed at least 30 people, left tens of thousands in shelters, and dumped almost 50 inches of rain on the city, according to NBC News. It’s been a tough week for countless families in Houston, in Texas, in the United States.
But the beautiful thing about tragedies like this is that, when under pressure, many people do rise to the occasion, dropping everything to help out those in need.

The Cab Driver Who Made Friends With An Injured Hawk
When a hawk sought refuge pre-storm in his cab in Houston, taxi driver William Bruso decided to let “Harvey the Hurricane Hawk” stay.
When Harvey wouldn’t leave at the end of the day, Bruso took him home for the night and gave him a safe space to hang out until the Texas Wildlife Rehab Coalition came to pick him up the next morning.
