This couple got engaged on a plane after they met on a flight—and the photos are adorable

Love was definitely in the air for Cathlyn Jones and Michael Davis in 2018. The couple met when they sat next to each other on a Southwest Airlines flight, and they had their first date a week later.

For both of them, it was definitely love at first sight.

“Something was just so different about him and our conversation and connection,” Jones told Insider. “I got off the flight and immediately called my sisters and mom and told them I met my husband. They laughed and called me dramatic and crazy. What’s funny is that Michael did the same thing.”

When Davis decided to propose, he knew he wanted to honor their life-changing moment in the sky. For the location, he chose the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas, Texas, as it’s home to the first Southwest plane. To ensure everything went to plan, he enlisted the help of Jones’ family. They pulled out all the stops to make her believe she was going to Dallas to film a commercial, even sending her a fake itinerary for the shoot.

Photographer Randi Michelle, who was hired by Davis, told Jones she wanted a shot of her entering the plane, which allowed her to capture the big moment of surprise when Jones first caught sight of Davis waiting to propose.

“I immediately burst into tears,” Jones said.

Davis included the couple’s closest friends and families on the happy occasion.

“Our families were standing outside of the plane and were waving at us through the window,” Jones said. “Afterwards, [Michael] surprised me with a lunch that included all of my closest friends.”

When Southwest Airlines found out about the proposal, they sent the newly engaged couple a bottle of champagne with their names, engagement date and the flight number they met engraved on it.

“Southwest has always been my favorite airline to fly on, but I love them even more now after meeting my future husband on it,” Jones said.

We can’t wait to see what Southwest does to commemorate their first wedding anniversary. Courtesy flights to a dream location, perhaps?
