You’ll be amazed at this high school dance team’s Marvel homecoming routine

A year ago, the Walden Grove High School Performing Arts Crew, a dance team at a high school in Sahuarita, Arizona, went viral when they performed a “Harry Potter”-themed dance routine. It didn’t seem possible that they could ever top a performance that honored the best-selling book series of all time — but then they decided to channel the Avengers.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe movies make up the highest-grossing film franchise of all time, and the interweaving storylines are truly epic. Instead of tackling all 23 movies in the series, the Walden Grove dance crew wrangled the tale down to focus on the final two films — which have a lot going on as it is — with the full routine taking viewers on a trip through “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.”

The dance routine is a delight. Crew members dressed up as various Marvel characters boogie their way through the unfolding plot with the help of some truly crowd-pleasing tunes, including the Beastie Boys’ “Intergalactic,” Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time” and — my personal favorite — “Hooked on a Feeling,” which played as the ’80s-loving Guardians of the Galaxy cruised onto the scene.

My only criticism? Loki (my favorite Marvel character of all time) was out of the picture way too soon. Then again, this was the case in the films as well.

Take a look at the video the dance team shared, unless you have somehow not yet seen the films and are still concerned about spoilers:

You can hear the crowd go wild throughout the performance, and, at the routine’s conclusion, they leap to their feet for a standing ovation. We can’t blame them. Being able to watch five-and-a-half-hours of storyline in a mere seven minutes and 12 seconds, all without stressing about when you’ll be able to take a pee break? That’s quite the accomplishment.

We can’t help but wonder which pop culture touchstone they’ll tackle next.
