If the idea of a regular summer job seems boring — then Harley-Davidson has an internship that’s definitely worth looking into.

The iconic motorcycle company is hiring summer interns, and there are some serious perks involved for whoever gets the gig. For starters, the internship is paid, and at the end of the summer, the company gives you a motorcycle to keep!

Of course, you’d need to pass a motorcycle driving course and obtain a motorcycle endorsement before you’re eligible to keep the free bike, but that’s a pretty small price to pay.

Overall, this truly seems like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for anyone looking to gain some solid, real-world experience (and a very big perk!).

How To Apply

The “#FindYourFreedom” summer internship is designed for college juniors and seniors and the deadline to apply is May 11 at 11:59 p.m. CST, according to the online job description.

Applicants have to come up with a unique way to describe what freedom means to them. This could be in the form of an essay, a video or some other creative way that would impress Harley-Davidson (there’s a free motorcycle on the line and the best motorcycle boots, after all!).

What You’ll Be Doing

During the internship, you’d be working with the marketing team for 12 weeks, creating social media posts for the company on Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook.

The job description also says the main indicator of whether this internship will be the right fit can be surmised by answering these simple questions:

“Do you hate the idea of interning for 40 hours a week in a cube lit by fluorescent lights? Do you want to grab life by the handlebars and take on the world?”

If you answered “yes,” to both of those questions, Harley-Davidson says, “Then this is the summer job for you.”

The full details of the internship (and free bike) can be found on Harley-Davidson’s website.

Other Internships

The company also offers internships through its IGNITE program. That program is “designed to provide students with assignments that bridge the gap between classroom studies and real-world experience,” according to the website.

Students can apply for internships in human resources, finance, information technology and product development design. IGNITE interns get the opporunity to develop leadership, project management and presentation skills.

Both IGNITE programs serve as feeders for Harley-Davidson’s rotational development programs, which are full-time, entry-level job opportunities that include benefits such as medical and dental plans, 401k, tuition reimbursement.

“Associates in our IGNITE Rotational Development Programs participate in a series of robust and meaningful rotations that have a direct impact on our business while building functional expertise and developing personal leadership skills,” the company says on its website. “Programs range from three to four years, with rotations between six and 12 months long.
