Living up to the wellness goals depicted online isn’t always easy. But Drew Barrymore is here to tell you that if you’re determined to make yourself a priority, you can reach all of your health goals. On Instagram, the actress credited fitness guru Marnie Alton as the person who helped make her 25-pound weight loss possible.
Barrymore took to Instagram to show off just how far she’s come with side-by-side photos of herself working out. The images depict the star before and after losing 25 pounds — along with an empowering message about achieving fitness goals with hard work and determination.
“When I look at Instagram, I am made to think I should be at my best self. But most days, I lack consistency due to real life,” the actress admitted. “[W]ith the right people (@marniealton) we can make our goals a reality … Here is me in a before pose and then 25 pounds later in the same place. You can tell my face is so much thinner!”

However, Barrymore will be the first to tell you that getting to this place wasn’t easy. “This takes me so much work. Diet and exercise and fighting like a lion for it,” she wrote.
But she also acknowledged that she loves her body in all shapes and sizes. “I love where I come from … and whatever package it comes in. I just know that I have the control to be what I want.”
This certainly isn’t the first time the actress has opened up about the importance of loving yourself on both good days and bad. She got real about maintaining some sort of “perfect appearance” when she took to Instagram to show overgrown eyebrows and gray roots to show, proving not everything is picture-perfect despite what the internet might have you believe.
She’s also been known to appear on Instagram without makeup, despite the fact that she owns a successful beauty company, Flower Beauty.
“Makeup-free selfies are empowering because that’s what you really look like — and I have no interest in sort of pretending I look something else than what I am,” she told People. “I love wearing makeup, but I also love not wearing makeup.”
And here she is on Instagram to prove it — makeup-free and feeling good:
Barrymore serves as a great reminder that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to — and still love yourself throughout every step of the process.
Here’s to reaching all of your goals in 2019!
