“Dancing with the Stars” judge Julianne Hough married Canadian NHL player Brooks Laich in a gorgeous ceremony on July 8.
The setting was nothing short of glamorous for the couple, but their Idaho nuptials may not be exactly what you would have expected from a Hollywood A-list couple.
Apparently, Hough used to spend summer holidays on Lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho, so the spot already had a special place in her heart, and provided the perfect backdrop for her wedding.

“When I introduced Brooks to the lake, he fell in love with this special spot, and we knew this was where we wanted to raise our family and grow old together,” Hough, told PEOPLE. “It just felt right to be married here.”
And they couldn’t have picked a more gorgeous venue. The photos that have been revealed prove that with the lake, the rocks and the flowers—everything was just beautiful.

The evening included a fireworks display over the lake, not one—but two—dresses for Hough and a private moment where the groom saw his bride for the first time. Lucky for us—that moment was caught on camera.
You can watch it below, but seriously—make sure you have some tissues handy.
Laich posted about the very special wedding day on Instagram writing, “This past weekend was the best time of my life as I got to marry my best friend @juleshough!! I am eternally grateful for her kindness and love, and truly feel like the luckiest man in the world.”
His reaction in the video truly expresses this sentiment better than words ever could. Hough also posted about the night she and Laich became husband and wife.
“The weekend finally arrived- And it was MAGICAL!!! The weekend my best friend, my love of my life, and my new husband @brookslaich and I brought our family and closest friends together to have fun, encourage love, and celebrate our marriage! I’m so grateful I get to spend forever with this incredibly kind, thoughtful, strong and adventurous man. I’m the luckiest woman in the world to be your wife!”
We’d say “magical” sums up Hough and Laich’s wedding weekend perfectly.
Laich and Hough were introduced and started dating in late 2013—several months after Hough split from TV host Ryan Seacrest, whom she had dated for three years.
Hough told Redbook in 2014 that she and Laich were set up by a mutual friend shortly after she returned from a seminar focused on creating your own destiny.
“I learned so much about myself and why my relationships didn’t work that by the end [of the seminar] I was on a high,” she said. “I was seeing a couple people, but immediately [pretends to text guys], ‘You are nice, but this is going nowhere.’ The next day my Curve costar introduced [Brooks and me]. It couldn’t have been a better time. We’ve been open and honest from day one.”
Best wishes to the newlyweds!
