As a holiday, Valentine’s Day can be hit or miss. If you’re in a new relationship, the first one can be amazing. If you have no one to celebrate with, it can be depressing. And, of course, if you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with the same person you’ve been celebrating with for years, you might even forget about it altogether.

But one thing we can all agree on is that Valentine’s Day is full of some seriously delicious treats. Even if you’re sitting at home watching Valentine’s Day movies on the Hallmark Channel (yes, those exist), can you really be upset if you’ve got some fabulous dessert?

Luckily, the No. 1 sweet treat for the holiday doesn’t even require any effort on your part — it’s candy, of course! This year, Hershey’s is taking it up a notch and giving us a brand-new Hershey Kiss flavor that is perfect for Valentine’s Day.

Now in stores for a limited time, Hershey’s new dark chocolate Lava Cake Kisses cost around $3.89 a bag and are filled with a melted cocoa center — just like a lava cake! I had the chance to taste them and can say for sure that not only do they taste like lava cake, but they smell like it too.

If you are up for making an actual cake for the romantic holiday, however, Hershey’s has a lava cake recipe that actually includes the kisses for an extra-special lava treat! Check out the recipe below:

Hershey’s Kisses Lava Cake

Ingredients

30 Hershey’s Kisses Brand Lava Cake Dark Chocolate Candies
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
½ cup Hershey’s Cocoa
1 cup packed light brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour

Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and sugar 10 (4 oz.) ramekins of custard cups. Remove wrappers from candies; set aside.

Place butter in large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at high for 1-1/2 minutes or until melted. Add cocoa and stir until smooth. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar, and stir with spoon until well blended. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well with spoon. Add flour and stir until well blended.

Fill prepared cups about 2/3 full with batter. Push points of 3 chocolates about halfway into batter.

Bake 22 to 25 minutes or until outer cake portion springs back when lightly touched with finger. (Cake may still appear moist where chocolates were added.) Cool in cups on wire racks for about 5 minutes.

To serve, run knife around outer edge of cake and then invert onto serving plate. Garnish as desired.

This recipe will make 10 brownie cakes.
