If your bananas are overripe, your mind probably goes straight to banana bread as a solution. However, there’s another way to get rid of those delicious, healthy fruits before they go bad, and it couldn’t be simpler to make or tastier to your palate. After you try it once, you’ll want to turn this recipe into a regular afternoon snack or breakfast treat.
This Pan-Fried Cinnamon Bananas recipe comes from Kristin King at the blog Dizzy Busy & Hungry. It requires just four ingredients that are likely already in your kitchen — sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and bananas — and takes just 10 minutes to make (five minutes of prep, followed by five minutes of cooking).
All you need to do is mix the sugar and spices together. Then, after you put your banana slices into a pan, sprinkle the mixture on top and start cooking. Eventually, you’ll flip the banana slices and add the rest of the sugar and spice mixture to the other side, then heat it all until it’s done. That’s literally all there is to it.
Personally, I love pan-fried sugary bananas and actually prefer them to the uncooked version! King suggests having these with cherry yogurt or V8 V-Fusion juice, but I can never wait that long to pop them into my mouth, so they’re all gone by the time I think to pair them with anything else. She also suggests using Splenda in place of sugar.
