Prince William Welcomes Harry to ‘Sleep Deprivation Society’ of Parenting
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise appearance today to promote a sailing race that will benefit charities they support. But, of course, just one day after news broke that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have welcomed their first child, all anyone wanted to talk about was their new royal nephew.
As expected, Prince William and Kate expressed that were “absolutely thrilled” with the arrival of their newest family member, and William even cracked a joke. “I’m very pleased and glad to welcome my brother to the sleep deprivation society that is parenting!” he said, reports People. (Prince Harry told reporters that he had only slept about two hours the night before his son’s birth, so it seems that William was spot-on in his comments!)
You can see a snippet of William and Kate’s interview in this tweet below:

The Cambridges are already parents to three children: Princes George, 5, and Louis, 1, and Princess Charlotte, 4. So naturally the media asked if William has any parenting advice for his younger brother, to which he replied, “Plenty of advice. I wish him all the best, and I hope the next few days they can settle down and enjoy having a newborn in the family and all the joys that come with it that.”
Kate also expressed her well-wishes, saying: “It’s such a special time. Louis and Charlotte just having had their birthdays – it’s such a great time of the year to have a baby. Spring’s in the air, so it’s really great. As William said, look forward to meeting him and finding out what his name’s going to be. It’s really exciting for both of them. These next few weeks, it’s always a bit daunting first time around so [we] wish them all the best.”
Currently, the new parents are with Markle’s mother Doria Ragland at their home, Frogmore Cottage. Harry had promised reporters that they would introduce the new baby to the world later in the week, as well as share his name. Since William and Kate apparently don’t know what the new baby’s name is, either, we guess we will all have to keep waiting for the name reveal!
